Chip manufacturers are cautious about the trade war, and if negotiations with China are successful, they won't fight anymore?

Although chip manufacturers have long complained about China's lax policies and attitudes towards intellectual property protection, many remain vigilant about the unclear consequences of a comprehensive trade war between the United States and China. The new tariff plan will not take effect until the end of a 30 day public comment period, and the long waiting time has led to speculation that the new tariff policy will ultimately be downplayed by lobbyists and elected representatives

EETimes San Francisco reports that under the banner of "countering China's unfair trade policies," the Trump administration has announced a plan to impose tariffs of up to $60 billion on Chinese products, prompting a series of reactions from the semiconductor industry.

Last Thursday (March 22), Trump elaborated on the taxation action and the results of a seven month investigation into China's technology policies and practices. This action will include restricting China's investment in American technology companies and challenging China's technology licensing practices in the World Trade Organization (WTO). China almost immediately launched a counterattack, proposing tariffs on American products including pork, wine, fruits, and steel.
